Scope and Contents

The Mating Call sub-series (1927-1929) is comprised of materials pertaining to the film's editing, legal, financial, production and direction, and story development records. Under director Lewis Milestone and producer Howard Hughes, The Mating Call was released on July 21, 1928 and starred Thomas Meighan, Renée Adorée, and Evelyn Brent. It was considered a lost film until 2016.

Editing records include multiple censor requests. Legal records include agreements for Renée Adorée and Evelyn Brent, Rex Beach’s agreement for story rights, and supporting actor contracts. The financial records are reports of domestic and international revenues. The production and direction records contain black-and-white photographic prints and a negative depicting principal and supporting cast, interior and exterior sets, and publicity images, as well as a production report ledger. The story development records include a manuscript copy of the story, a production script, and cutting and dialogue continuities.

Abstract

The Stardust Hotel and Desert Inn Hotel Photographic Negatives collection consists of black-and-white photographic negatives depicting the Stardust and Desert Inn hotels from approximately 1962 to 1967. The images depict annual and one-time events held at both hotels, including sporting events such as golf and tennis, fashion shows and beauty contests, weddings, and conventions for local and national associations. A significant amount of the collection documents the long running Lido de Paris show at the Stardust. Also included in the collection are interior views of Stardust and Desert Inn casino floors, pool side lounges, and guest rooms, as well as exterior and aerial views of the hotel properties located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Abstract

The Flamingo Hilton Hotel Records date from 1946 to 1983, with the bulk of the collection dating from 1968 to 1983 and contain promotional materials and administrative records of the Flamingo Hilton located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection primarily consists of materials related to the promotion of the Flamingo Hilton including advertising copy and plans, press releases, and meeting minutes. Also included are drawings and plans for neon signs for the casino.
