The regulatory subject files document the federal and state regulation of Native American gaming and the greater United States gaming industry (1789, 1793, 1823-1832, 1851, 1883, 1886, 1903, 1909, 1971-2009). The bulk of materials date from 1990 to 2009. Documents dating from the eighteenth, nineteenth, and early-twentieth centuries are reproductions of Supreme Court opinions and legislative documents. Materials include Senate and House of Representatives bills, court opinions, testimonies before Congress, the Federal Register, congressional records, reports, pamphlets, agendas, informational booklets, press releases, memos, correspondence, notes, legal briefs, and newspaper articles. Materials also document various legal topics such as amending the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act; class II and class III gaming regulations; government-to-government relationships; Department of the Interior secretarial procedures; sovereignty; and trust lands.
