The gift shop appears to be near slot machines, as a slot machine handle is seen out of focus on the left side of the picture. A mailbox for guests to send correspondence is to the right of the counter, reading "Letters, Mail." The color photograph was taken before the casino was renovated in the mid 1970s. Fremont Street with Union Pacific Railroad Depot and depot park at end of street. Inscription with the image reads, "The arch was built to welcome Secretary of the Interior Ray Lyman Wilbur to Las Vegas. He came to town for the ceremony of driving to the silver spike for the railroad branch from Las Vegas to Boulder City, September 17, 1930. Governor Balzar declared to carry spectators and notables to Braken, juction 7 miles south of Las Vegas on the SLC-LA line. "

The railroad cottages were built by the Las Vegas Land and Water Company for employees of the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad between 1909 and 1911.

Abstract

The Morgan Sweeney Photograph Collection (approximately 1922-1969) consists of black-and-white photographic prints of Boulder City, Nevada, and Lake Mead and Hoover Dam areas, located on the border between Arizona and Nevada. The images depict the interior, exterior, and construction stages of Hoover Dam (Boulder Dam). There is also an aerial photograph of Boulder City, Nevada.

Abstract

Oral history interview with Clay Lynch conducted by Linda M. Trust on June 28, 1973 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. In the interview, Lynch discusses moving to Las Vegas, Nevada from Illinois in July 1955, his education at the University of Pittsburgh, Nevada social welfare programs, and Las Vegas, Nevada casino showrooms. Lynch also briefly discusses his work as a United States Army engineer training officer, as well as a transportation engineering consultant and contractor for his company, Lynch Brothers.
