Tang, Kochy, 1973-

Second-generation physician Kochy Tang arrived in Las Vegas in 1999 to complete her Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) residency; she stayed because she became part of a congenial medical community. Tang's father, Y. Y. Tang, M.D., left China in the early 1940s to go to France and then to Boston to attend Harvard Medical School, graduating in 1945. He was drafted into the U.S. Army for the Korean War and served in a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M.A.S.H.) unit. After the war, he practiced alternative medicine in San Francisco and Reno.

Dokter, Betty Ham, 1922-1990

Betty Ham Dokter was born May 20, 1922 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Church was one of the main activities for everybody in school, and she went to every church in town during the summertime. Dokter graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1940. She met her husband at a drive-in and they got married during World War II.

Dwyer, Kay C.

Kay Dwyer was born August 30, 1934 to James and Eileen Crawford. Her father attained a job as an accountant with Basic Magnesium Incorporated in 1942. This moved the family to Henderson, Nevada, which was a brand new community in the early 1940s. In 1952, Dwyer graduated from Basic High School and then moved to Los Angeles, California to attend Pepperdine University for two years. She moved back to the Las Vegas, Nevada area and started a family with Stanly Hardy with whom she had three children.

Ehlen, Tom, 1948-

Tom Ehlen has been passionate about the trumpet from an early age. He discovered his musical roots in his hometown of Kenton, Ohio and pursued that passion throughout his life. He caught his first break as a musician while studying at Ohio State University.

Erickson, Harold H. J.

Harold Henry James "Hal" Erickson was the second Director of Libraries for Nevada State University, later known as the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He came to UNLV in 1965 and began expanding Special Collections to include many gaming, Southern Nevada, and local history collections. He retired in 1993 after many years of service on local boards and his dedicated library work.

Wing Fong was a distinguished Nevadan, recognized for his philanthropic generosity and business acumen. He was an owner director of Nevada State Bank and a founder of Frontier Fidelity Savings and Loan Association.

Bass, Burt

Burton Bass (1932- ) is a photographer and owner of Burton Studio in Las Vegas, Nevada. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York and practiced photography from the time he was a child. Bass opened his first professional photography studio in 1962, shortly after he married Wilma Frank in 1960. In 1974 the couple moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where Bass worked for his brother-in-law Ed Frank's check cashing businesses. In 1979 Bass opened his own photography business, Burton Studio. He later added services such as fingerprinting, background checks, and photographs for identification cards.

Figgins, Benny Louis, 1943-

Benny Louis Figgins was born November 27, 1943. He began working for Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino on its grand opening on August 6, 1966 as a custodian, then as a table dealer for games including blackjack. He left the company briefly near the beginning of his employment, but returned in April 1967 and is currently still working.
