Chabad of Southern Nevada (Las Vegas, Nev.)

Chabad of Southern Nevada was established in 1990 by Rabbi Shea Harlig and his wife Dina Harlig. It is an outpost of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch organization that provides social services and educational programs for members of the Jewish community. Chabad of Southern Nevada is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and has six affiliated centers: Chabad of Summerlin, Chabad of Green Valley, Chabad of East-Or Bamidbar, Chabad of Southwest, Chabad Hebrew Center, and Chabad Student Services at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Casey, Linda S., 1951-

Linda Schneider married Steven Casey in 1975 in Linda’s home town of Flossmoor, Illinois. After their marriage they moved to a house Steve owned near the Palace Station, on El Mirador Street in the Ward 1 section of Las Vegas. Within six months, however, Linda was looking for another house. A 1973 Art History graduate of Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, Linda did corporate design work for Southwest Gas Company. She further engaged her talent when she designed and built custom houses as an owner/builder from 1979 through 1987.

Zunino, Jack W., 1948-2024

Jack Wayne Zunino

Jack Wayne Zunino was born July 13, 1948, in Elko, Nevada to John Wilson Zunino and Loretta Yvette Hansen. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Utah and a master's degree in landscape architecture and environmental panning from Utah State University. In 1989, Zunino established JW Zunino Landscape Architecture, a firm that became a cornerstone of landscape design in the Southwest.

Lurie, Ronald Philip "Ron", 1941-2020

Ronald P. Lurie is a former mayor and city councilman of Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in Los Angeles, California on January 23, 1941, Lurie graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1958. He attended Arizona State University and Nevada Southern University (now known as University of Nevada, Las Vegas). From 1966 to 1978 Lurie was vice president of Wonder World Liquors, co-owned by his father Arthur Lurie. Lurie began working in the gaming industry in 1978, as a sales executive for International Game Technology, a video poker machine company.

Spurr, Josiah Edward, 1870-1950

Josiah Edward Spurr (1870-1950) was born into a family of fishermen in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He received his Master's degree in geology from Harvard University in 1894 and was appointed to the United States Geological Survey (USGS) the same year. In 1896, Spurr was sent, with two other USGS geologists, to survey the Alaskan interior. This historically important expedition was followed in 1898 by an equally important journey down the 702 mile-long Kuskokwim River, surveying previously uncharted mountains, lakes, volcanoes and glaciers.
