Taylor, Althia Loreece, 1948-
Shirley Edmond and Althia Taylor grew up on Jackson Avenue where their parents owned Johnson's Malt Shop. Both women worked in the postal service until their retirements; Shirley worked for 36 years and Althia for 32 years. Shirley went into management but Althia loved mail delivery even after 14 dog bites. Mackie Edmond worked for the Stardust and interacted with MOB figures like Frank Rosenthal. He explains why people thought that era was better than corporate ownership.

This is part 6 of 6 finding aids for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Creative Services Records (1959-2016). Generally, materials are transferred from UNLV Photo Services to UNLV Special Collections and Archives 5 years after they are created. For materials within the last 5 years, contact photo@unlv.edu or call 702-895-3036. This finding aid contains the thematic slides, contact sheets, and audiovisual materials taken and used by UNLV Creative Services for publicity and promotional purposes from approximately 1959 to 2009. The majority of the materials consist of images from various academic departments, athletics, buildings and historical views of campus, as well as faculty and student life. Also included in the collection are an assortment of print materials, such as theater and music programs, as well as audio cassettes and film reels from anniversary events around campus.

The Production Company Audiovisual Collection
The Production Company Audiovisual Collection consists of commercials, advertising, and political campaigns from approximately 1965 to 1995 created by The Production Company, a television production company founded by Thomas “Bob” Patrick in Las Vegas, Nevada. The collection consists of primarily 16 mm film and video formats such as VHS, U-Matic, Betacam, open reel, Type C, and quadruplex. The videotapes and films in this collection represent advertising and marketing for hotels and casinos, entertainment companies, politicians, and local businesses located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Promotional video for Stardust Hotel and Resort showing amenities including the pool, dining options, interior of hotel rooms, sports and gaming, and various entertainment programs available; voiceover describing everything while short clips show onscreen, ends with a phone number to call; same ad runs twice. Second segment is promotional video for the Meadows Mall Christmas display with the slogan of "Meadows Mall means Christmas"; second segment appears to be b-roll for the same Christmas village promotional video with music playing over the same shots of the holiday display. Third segment is Monte Hale appearing in a promotional video for the Frontier Hotel; he walks through the hotel, dining, entertainment options while in Western-style clothing and at times, riding a horse. On March 3, 1979, Norwood Germany Jr. interviewed Daniel A. Moore (b. 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas) about his life in Las Vegas, Nevada. Moore begins by speaking about his move to Las Vegas from Utah at a young age, his education and his work in construction and at the Las Vegas McCarran Airport. Moreover, Moore speaks about his involvement with church and his recreational hobbies such as bowling. Moore also spends time speaking about the African American population in Las Vegas, the jobs available to them, racial tensions in his young adulthood versus his children’s experiences, and the segregation of black communities into the Las Vegas Westside. Lastly, he talks about the city’s growth, tourism and the economy, the development of different shopping centers and malls, and the city’s law enforcement.
