Oral history interview with Vaughn M. Higbee conducted by Mark Vandamme on March 31, 2004 for the Public School Principalship Oral History Project. In this interview, Higbee reflects upon his career as a sports coach, teacher, and administrator in Idaho and in Nevada’s Lincoln County School District (LCSD). He describes the process by which he became a coach, and then explains how his coaching experience shaped his approach to school administration. He describes his regular responsibilities and challenges as principal, and discusses his working relationships with teachers, fellow administrators, and the Board of Education. He also discusses how he chose to retire after serving as LCSD’s superintendent.

In this interview, Brantley discusses his personal history and his experiences growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada. He talks about attending Bonanza High School, being involved in school sports, and establishing The Poet’s Corner, a monthly poetry forum, in the late 1990s. Brantley describes what The Poet’s Corner provided for the community, the history of racism in Las Vegas, and discusses the African American experience as the city changed. Oral history interview with Patricia Morse Jarman conducted by Claytee D. White on May 01, 2018 for the African Americans in Las Vegas: a Collaborative Oral History Project. In this interview, Jarman discusses her early life and joining the United States Air Force. She remembers moving to North Las Vegas, Nevada in 1974, being stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, and her decision to stay in Las Vegas after her military service. Jarman talks about her interest in sports analytics, becoming a boxing judge, and being appointed to the Nevada Consumer Affairs Commission. Lastly, Jarman discusses working with local government to prevent the development of apartment buildings on golf courses, and the 1 October shooting.

The Pahrump Valley High School Photograph Collection (approximately 1974-1976) consists of black-and-white images of students and staff in various locations in and around the Pahrump Valley High School campus in Southern Nevada. Images document sporting events, classroom activities, and campus buildings. Featured in some of the images are football and basketball teams, song leaders, teachers, coaches, and the landscape around Pahrump, including Mt. Charleston from a distance. This collection consists entirely of digital surrogates.
