Michael Drakulich oral history interview
Oral history interview with Michael Drakulich conducted by Jane Finfrock on May 8, 1979 for the Ralph Roske Oral History Project on Early Las Vegas. Drakulich discusses his career after graduating college and holding several teaching and coaching positions at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, including professor, golf coach, and athletic director. He also discusses the growth of the university, important figures in sports coaching at the university, and the growth of Las Vegas.

On February 21, 1980, Andrew Bannister interviewed Vincent “Vince” Hart (born on July 7, 1945 in Jerusalem, Palestine) in Hart’s office about his experience with youth soccer, both as a coach and as a player. Hart discusses his family background and his residential history in the United Kingdom and the United States before explaining the development of the men’s soccer team at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He describes his impact on the program and his hopes for future student athletes. The two then delve into a discussion of the fundamentals of soccer and different strategies that are commonly used. They then conclude with a brief description of Vince’s experiences with meeting a variety of professional soccer players at the Las Vegas Stadium.

Susan Mueller McCue oral history interview, 2025 May 07
Oral history interview with Susan Mueller McCue conducted by Claytee White on May 7, 2025 for the Game On! An Oral History of Las Vegas Sports project. In this interview McCue discusses her upbringing in Las Vegas, Nevada in the 1960s and becoming a superfan for different sports. After graduating from UNLV with a Communications and Broadcasting degree in 1979, she spent three years at Channel 3 News in the sports department, mostly behind the scenes as an editor and writer id but did sometimes appear on television for brief sports segments. After leaving Channel 3, she continued to have a deep love for sports, especially baseball, basketball, tennis, and hockey. McCue recalls watching professional jai alai at the MGM Casino in the 1970s, the NHL having its first outdoor hockey match in the parking lot of Caesars Palace, and the brief North American Soccer League team in Las Vegas. She also discusses how the more modern teams have shown appreciation for Las Vegas, and how the Golden Knights were forged with a community spirit. Digital audio and transcript available.

Tony Cordasco oral history interview, 2024 July 03
Oral history interview with Tony Cordasco conducted by Stefani Evans and Claytee D. White on July 3, 2024 for Game On! The Oral History of Las Vegas Sports project. In this interview, Tony Cordasco recalls his childhood in Newark, New Jersey, and eventually moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1979, where he became the first sports director of the new "KJON" radio station. In 1981, the station earned its FCC license as KUNV, and he was the first program director. After graduating with a degree in communications in 1982, he worked at news radio stations in Las Vegas and New Jersey until returning to Las Vegas permanently in 1987 to host a daily sports radio show and UNLV basketball play-by-play on a new station, KROL, co-owned by Sig Rogich and Mark Ratner. He also headed public relations for sports at The Showboat, which offered professional bowling, boxing, and wrestling. In 2000, he joined Red Bull as its marketing director and produced the company's first marketing plan. After fifteen years with the company, he opened his own consulting firm. He discusses his personal history with sports reporting and commentating and his work with Red Bull; the Professional Women's Volleyball team, Vegas Thrill; Jerry Tarkanian; and attending boxing matches at the Caesars Palace Sports Pavilion.
