Abstract

Oral history interview with Rabbi Sanford Akselrad conducted by Barbara Tabach on March 7, 2018 for the Remembering 1 October Oral History Project. In this interview, Rabbi Sanford Akselrad discusses the response of the Jewish community of Congregation Ner Tamid to the October 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. He discusses the healing service he led the day after the shooting, how the community paid respect to the victims, and the concert held to raise money. In addition to the actions of the Jewish community, Rabbi Akselrad discusses the congregation's work with the interfaith community to heal from this tragedy.

Oral history interview with Yocheved Mintz conducted by Barbara Tabach on March 11, 2015 for the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project. Rabbi Mintz discusses arriving in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1997 with her husband, the founder of Cenegenics. She also talks about becoming a spiritual leader of what is now known as Congregation P'nai Tikvah in 2005.

Congregation Adat Ari El was a Jewish Reform congregation in Las Vegas, Nevada founded by former members of Temple Beth Am in 1992. The congregation started out with about 15 families that held services in a donated storefront every two weeks, led by a rabbi who traveled from California. In 2007, Adat Ariel merged with Temple Beth Am to form Temple Sinai.
