Formed in 1897, Searchlight is an old boomtown that was made popular when George Frederick Colton discovered gold at the location where the town is now built. Unnamed buildings cluster together in the center of the postcard while rocky terrain decorated with small shrubs and mines surround the city's outskirts. Providing security and access to both automobile and pedestrian traffic is handled differently along Las Vegas Boulevard and has changed over the years on the Strip. First installed in the 1990s, the pedestrian overpass has become commonplace along the Las Vegas Strip.
