Inscription with the image reads, "The arch was built to welcome Sectratary of the Interior Ray Lyman Wilbur to Las Vegas. He came to town for the ceremony of driving to the silver spike for the railroad branch from Las Vegas to Boulder City, September 17, 1930. Governor Balzar declared to carry spectators and notables to Braken, juction 7 miles south of Las Vegas on the SLC-LA line. "

A black and white image of Helen Slattery, Chicago General Traffic employee for United Airlines, sitting with Dutch Goerman, Secretary of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, in a vehicle from 1904 with the sign "Desert Love Buggy." This photo was taken from a time capsule in the cornerstone of the Union Pacific Railroad station located in Las Vegas. The time capsule was placed there in 1940 and was later retrieved when the building was demolished around 1970.

The hull of the $20,000,000 airplane, also known as the Flying Boat or Spruce Goose, being transferred from Culver City to Terminal Island in the Los Angeles Harbor. The Flying Boat was moved to Terminal Island's graving dock where construction was completed in June of 1947.

Transcribed from stamp on back of photo: "June 16, 1946; Hughes Aircraft Photo." Crowds and policeman watching as a section of Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose" or "Flying Boat" was being moved (with a police escort) from the Hughes Aircraft plant in Culver City, California to Terminal Island in the Los Angeles Harbor where the plane was assembled June 1946. The men are raising the power lines so the fuselage can pass under.
