Helldorado Parade

The Helldorado Days Parade, formerly known as the Las Vegas Days Parade, or simply Helldorado, is held in mid-May each year and celebrates the city’s western roots. The parade usually includes floats, high school marching bands, cowboys and cowgirls on horseback, costumed dancers, car clubs, nonprofits and more. In past years, an independent panel of judges decided on the award winners for the best entry, most creative, best theme, best float, best equestrian entry, best car club or motorized vehicle, best marching band and best walking group.

Hotel Las Vegas (Las Vegas, Nev.)

Hotel Las Vegas, built by Las Vegas Trading Company in 1905. It was located on North Main St. between Stewart St. and the creek, across from Woodards Downtown Camp on ground later occupied by Elwells Warehouse. All canvas and lumber used in building was cut to size and holes bored, in Los Angeles, ready to be bolted together, upon arrival in Las Vegas. Hotel had twenty rooms; floor space was 40 by 130 feet. Kitchen and dining room are seen next door to hotel in right. The hotel was managed by Charles P. Squire

Overland Hotel was an early hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, built by John Wisner after he purchased the property for $1,750 at the 1905 Las Vegas land auction. The hotel was destroyed by a fire in 1911, but was rebuilt bigger and better.
