Video starts part way into Stratosphere Corp presentation to Gaming Control Board; with unidentifed Stratosphere reps, followed by Mr. Berman of Stratosphere Corp; and Bob Stupak. Issues arose on separation of Bob Stupak liabilities to the Stratosphere Corp. Stupak reminded the Control Board members of the successful financial progressions made over the years from the past Vacation Club to the Stratosphere Club to the Stratosphere Tower Club; which resulted with the Stratosphere Tower becoming a reality. Safety issues discussed on the tower's roller coaster and Big Shot amusement rides at the top of the tower. Gaming Control Board approved motions 4N950024; and 4N950025, that grants the Stratosphere Tower to operate. End of video clip shows a few seconds of Bob Stupak outdoors. Most of the first 8 minutes of video has Stupak bantering about cell-phones. @8:24 into video Stupak is seen traversing through the unfinished sections of The Stratosphere; @9:09 the Wall of Names is shown; where Stupak claims there are 30 thousand names of financial contributors to the construction of The Stratosphere from shareholders and various club memberships originated by Stupak; @22:03 Stupak, in the company of others, walks into the unfinished section of The Stratosphere's unfinished casino floor; @24:50 Stupak is face-to-face with his bronze statue, where he has issues about the tone of the statue, as Stupak expected it to be gleaming gold. That issue is discussed with an unnamed mustached individual that may have been the designer/sculpter of the statue. There is audio dropout between 26:51 to 27:08. Abstract

The Pittman Family Photographs depict members of the Pittman and Brewington families in Nevada from 1903 to 1989. The photographs primarily depict Nevada Governor Vail Pittman and his wife Ida Louise “Liz” Brewington Pittman at political campaign and fundraising events, including the Helldorado Parade in Las Vegas, Nevada and at the Governor’s Mansion in Carson City, Nevada. The photographs also depict Governor Pittman with President Harry S. Truman, Jim Cashman, and family members. The photographs also include a group photograph of U.S. Senator Key Pittman with business executives representing the Union Pacific Railroad and the San Pedro Railroad. The collection also contains family photographs of Ann Brewington, Ida Brewington Pittman's sister, as well as a letter sent to Vail Pittman in 1903.

Description

Rachel Gibson was the granddaughter of Nevada pioneers. Her maternal grandparents, George Rammelkamp and Anna Dougherty, were among the earliest white residents of northern Nevada, settling first in Dayton and later Yerington. Her mother, Clara Angelina, and her two aunts, Elizabeth and Georgie, graduated from the University of Nevada at the turn of the century. Clara taught in Yerington for a number of years before marrying Chase Masterson, a dentist. Rachel was born in 1913 in Yerington. The eldest of three children, she continued the tradition of women’s learning and education that began with her mother’s generation. Her 1930 class was the first to graduate from Las Vegas High School, and soon after Rachel moved to California to attend college. Although her father had counseled her to study law, Rachel chose the field of economics. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and worked in San Francisco for one year before returning to complete

Scope and Contents

The Caddo Company, Incorporated series (1922-1965) is comprised of twelve sub-series containing film production and corporate records.

The first two sub-series contain materials related to two films that predate the formation of The Caddo Company, Incorporated as a production company, Swell Hogan (1926) and Everybody's Acting (1926), financed by Howard Hughes. The remaining sub-series represent the nine films produced under the Caddo banner and general corporate records.

Materials within each film sub-series include advertising and publicity, administrative, censorship, distribution, editing, financial, legal, and production and direction records, as well as film soundtracks and screenplays. Types of materials include of ledgers, correspondence, storyboard images, sheet music, and original scores, as well as film, direction, set, and production stills. Corporate records consist of newspaper clippings, administrative correspondence, actor and distribution contracts, and financial reports.
