Description
"Nevada Business" segment on recent federal regulations related to the gaming industry. Karen Galatz reports on the issue of the deductability of providing employee meals, which Boyd Group was audited for in 1993. The amount that companies are allowed to deduct has slowly decreased to 50% in 1993, but Boyd continued to deduct all 100% but was audited. Interview with Paul Dixon (IRS) speaks on the issue, and Rick Darnold (Boyd) explains why Boyd feels it is a safety and security issue and should be allowed. American Gaming Association is paying Boyd's legal fees because it feels this is a wider-reaching issue. Galatz interviews lawyer representing the group who explains the issue in greater detail. Newly finished homes line Gracious Way in the Cadence development in Henderson looking south towards Black Mountain. For decades the western neighborhoods of Henderson experienced explosive growth as the city moved from small industrial town clustered around the World War II era plants to Las Vegas suburbs and the state's second largest city. Cadence hopes to change that with its large masterplanned community north of East Lake Mead Parkway and Boulder Highway.
