Most years do not contain all different types of materials, while some years document specialty events such as the women's tournament, live telecast, or sports charity events.

The business and legal series consists mainly of Harold Stocker’s papers related to his southern Nevada businesses and covers the years from 1930 through 1977. The majority of these files pertain to the years 1950 through 1977. Most of these papers are deeds, leases, and such business agreements. There are also estate papers, civil suits, personal taxes, and Chief Hotel Court statements and room accounts.

Abstract

The UNLV Libraries Collection of Gaming Research Files is a collection of materials that date between approximately 1900 and 2019. The collection mainly consists of materials relating to conferences and expositions, gaming research files, and gaming technology and equipment catalogs. The conference and exposition materials include registration books, pamphlets, and printouts. The gaming research contains annual reports from different casinos and universities, as well as newspaper clippings and website printouts. The subject files are organized by state or international location, and contain clippings, printouts, and pamphlets related to different aspects of gaming. Gaming technology companies, software, and equipment catalogs are also found within the collection. The collection also contains DVDs, tapes, and several books on gaming practices as well as newspaper clippings, brochures, and documents related to problem gambling.

Shockley, May Bradford, 1879-1977

May Bradford was born May 11, 1879 in Missouri. Her parents named her Cora May, but she almost always went by the name May. Growing up, she lived in mining camps in New Mexico, Colorado, and Oregon, where her father worked. She graduated from high school in Carthage, Missouri. She attended Stanford and studied art and mathematics, earning her degree in 1902. She then taught high school for one year in Seattle, Washington to earn the money to go to Paris and study art and was able to spend the next year in Paris.
