Description
Interviewed by David Schwartz. Clifford Conedy played on the football team at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, beginning in 1973. The university got him a job working security as part of the youth patrol at Circus Circus Hotel-Casino. He lived in Washington State and came back to Las Vegas in 1977 and worked security for the Fremont Hotel and Casino and for the Stardust. He became a dealer for the Fremont and also worked for Little Caesars Casino, the Mint Hotel and Casino, El Rancho, the Imperial Palace, the MGM Grand, the Flamingo Hilton, and Casesars Palace. Abstract

Oral history interview with Benny Binion conducted by an unknown interviewer circa 1975 to 1977. In this interview, Binion discusses his arrival to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1946 and his involvement with the town in the early 1950s. He discusses what motivated him to move, his involvement with the Las Vegas Club, and his decision to build The Westerner and eventually Binion’s Horseshoe on Fremont Street. He also describes what gaming was like in Las Vegas when he first arrived, and his interactions with other casinos such as the Flamingo, Eldorado Club, and Hotel Apache in 1951.

Heidi talks about forming the Nevada Preservation Foundation, her anthropological research in India, and her run for the Nevada Legislature representing Assembly District 16. The Swanks discuss the Downtown Project, the Flamingo Club, their 1956 house in the John S. Park neighborhood, and their neighbors.
