Goynes, Theron

Theron Goynes was born August 20, 1929 in Texarkana, Texas. He attended college at Texas A & M University, was in the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), served in the United States Air Force, and then became an educator. Goynes met his future wife, Naomi Jackson, in Nashville, Arkansas where they were both young teachers in 1956.

Oral history interview with Wayne Tanaka conducted by Ayrton Yamaguchi, Vanessa Concepcion, Kristel Peralta, Cecilia Winchell, and Stefani Evans on March 12, 2021 for Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project. Wayne shares his family's heritage and history as Japanese Hawaiians and discusses his father's internment during World War II. He shares his background growing up in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai'i and how he came to live in Las Vegas. Wayne discusses his career as an educator for the Clark County School District and talks about his life in Las Vegas with his wife and daughters. Subjects discussed include: Las Vegas Buddhist Sangha; Executive Order 9066; Sunset High School; Boulder Dam Area Council.

Oral history interview with Dr. Linda K. Miller conducted by Claytee D. White on July 10, 2019 for Boyer Early Las Vegas Oral History Project. In this interview, Dr. Miller discusses her early life in Kansas City, Kansas and arriving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2002. She talks about Helen J. Stewart, the Old Mormon Fort, and the significance of that area. Later, Dr. Miller explains the importance of teaching local history to people in Las Vegas. Lastly, Dr. Miller discusses the process of writing a book about Helen J. Stewart.

Wadley-Munier, Robin

Robin Wadley-Munier was born January 9, 1948 and was raised in Monroe, Louisiana. Wadley-Munier married her husband, Fredric Earl Munier, in 1980 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987. She held occupations as a special assistant to the City Counsel and a teacher assistant at Clark High School.

Boranian, Hixon, 1914-1988

Violinist and music teacher Hixon John Boranian was born on March 1, 1914 and spent the majority of his career playing with Buck Owens and his Buckaroos. He retired in the late 1970s and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he taught music. Boranian passed away in 1988.

Norman Christiansen was born on October 11th, 1931 in Red Lodge, Montana. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1956 after graduating college in Montana. Christiansen worked at the Nevada Test Site for two years and was a teacher at various schools.
