Photograph of a Paiute woman in an encampment (Nev.), 1893-1904

Information

Date
1893 to 1904
Description
A Paiute woman in Southern Nevada at a Paiute encampment. Some Native American implements are shown, but she is wearing a cast off Anglo clothing. She is facing away from the camera because she believed that otherwise the camera would "steal her spirit." There is a windbreak made of brush between two mesquites. 0105 0085 is a duplicate copy of this photo.
