Campbell 135 South 4th Street Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Tom* In connection with Senate Bills 3302 and 3303 now pending in Congress, and in my earnest desire to do what I could to facilitate the passage of these bills, I had some of our representatives write to some of the Senators they know, especially those on the Committee before which these bills are pending, asking that they lend such assistance as they could. I have received in some Instances copies of the replies to the letters so written, and in one of these a Senator on the Committee makes the following suggestion, which 1 am passing on to you for what you think it is worth: "It might also be advisable, if you have not already done so, to have Congressman Cliff Young of Nevada introduce the same bills in the House due to the fact that Republican legislation has a better chance of clearing this session than a recognized Democratic bill." I assume it is quite essential to the District that these bills pass in order that it may be able to start construction of the pipe line from Manganese to Las Vegas. Certainly you will not want to start construction work until you have a clear title to the easement right of way. How­ever, since the management of the District is in such capable hands, I merely pass this suggestion on to you in order that you may use your own judgment. 4 Incidentally, all the copies of correspondence I have received suggest that the bills are being held up awaiting reports of the Interior Department and Bureau of Budgets, without which the Committee can not act.
