Dear Sir,- As per your instructions, I have looked up the matter of coal <bnnage for operation of the Oregon Short Line south of Salt Lake, and am able to present the following figures,- For all engine purposes, the tonnage averages 100 tons per day of "run of mine" coal. For small pumping plants, etc., 80 tons of slack per month. I also find that the Sterling Coal & Coke Co. are already in position to put out at least 200 tons of coal per day, and which I am informed, can be increased. This coal should cost,delivered at Nephi, not to exceed fl.75 per ton, and I think, with any kind of a contract, this price could be considerably cut, particularly if we would use our much own cars, which, you can readily see, would be of^advantage to all con­cerned. X believe you have report of the Sterling Coal & Coke Co’s property and analysis of coal, which I sent you some time ago. if not, I still have copy in this office and will forward.
