141 2. It would take but a very short time to make the Mojave Indians entirely self supporting and independent American citizens if they had water for their land and a few tools to work with. They are excellent workers and worthy in every respect. My estimate is taken from catalogue furnished by Bupon Jackson, San Francisco. I propose to take the water from the Colorado river pump it into one more ditch and run it from there into [not legible] ones. I propose to have the Indians [not legible] me in preparing these ditches [not legible] for water furnished there.
