11.0 MOD were used In 1948 for this purpose. It is not likely that this usage will ever be mater­ially reduced. As the urban area becomes more populated, it is probable that more lawns and gardens will be established. The present population density of the urban area is about 2.5 persons per acre. By the year 2000, this density may increase to 5.0 persons per acre, requiring a land area of 15.000 acres. The area maintained as lawns and gardens may increase to 50 per cent of the total area. The water consumption, based on present rates for this service, would then be approximately 20.0 MOD.
