April 10 (Tuesday) Phil Orr scraped some areas to find charcoal traces; not much luck. Orr left in late AM. As he was leaving, Fay Perkins (of the Lost City Museum in Overton, NV) & his son Bryant came. Looked over sites he had helped M.I. dig in early 30*s. Dug in "Harrington site" charcoal "pit". April 11 (Wednesdays) Dug at "Harrington site". Winery in afternoon. April 12 (Thursday) Dug cross section for Dee. Continued at Harrington1s site. Dark, cloudy, overcast all day. Winder all day. April 13 (Friday) ' : Rained last night. Dee S. and Stuart P. went into Las Vegas in AM. Got letter from Mother & Dad. Dug near Ash Pit #1 in AM. In afternoon we all went to the "McCown" site which McCown had found in AM and we dug there all # # # afterboon. Cool day. April 1U (Saturday) Hazel & "Mac" left in AM for trip through W. Utah & N. Nevada looking for more obsidian deposits. We will see them next week in Independence at ASA meeting. In afternoon I walked along base of mts. ca. 2-3 miles to left (W) of where Phil & I went. Examined cases but no luck. Surface collected with Dee & Stuart on N Side of wash "terrace". April 1$ (Sunday) Dee, Stuart & I packed the Museum truck. Hitched the Santa Barbara Museum of Nat. Hist, truck on back at Gilcrease Ranch. Left Las Vegas about 1:00 PM. Got gas at Barstow. Took Hy U66 to Edwards turn off, down 120th St. to Oliver Ranch. Spent the night with the Olivers. Shaved off my two-weeks old beard. April 16 (Monday) Grace Oliver took me to the Antelope Valley Indiab Museum to see new arrangement of LaMonk paintings & other changes. Left late AM for Santa Barbara via Saugus-Santa Paula. Lunch at Fillmore. Arrived at S. Barbara Museum of Nat Hist. ca. 3?30 FM. Saw Phil Orr. Got home about 7:30 PM. Had one flat tire near Malibu.
