Mr. R. L. Adamson -2- April 14, 1953 (1) At 1O-inch power house connection to 24- inoh main* This Chech and booster pump to work only in emergency when: (a) well fails (b) shop well production fails to meet demand (2) At discharge of shop well pump. Shop well to discharge in a {S.H.) tank. Then through booster pump and check valve. Supply a*om points 1 and 2 would constitute the only source of supply when Job is completed and all existing RR Company connections to 16-inch and 24-inch mains are removed. (B)fhis layout would have to be designed so that booster pumps would come on automatically under varying conditions. For example, if well booster pump failed at point 2, then booster at pump 1 should start. Capacity and head of boosters should be carefully considered. For example, the capacity of the booster at well should be fairly dose to well capacity, but the one at point 1 should be substantially higher in order to meet a peak demand, which might be in excess of well production. To my knowledge, no detailed plans have been made for this project, and it is my opinion that the mechanical detail® of layout at both the shop well and the lo-inch connection to existing 24-inoh main should be undertaken before material® are ordered. It is my opinion that if this project is undertaken, without an elevated tank, it will take, at a minimum, four months time to prepare necessary detail®, requisition and secure materials and perform construction work in field. A very rough penciled sketch is attached. Very truly yours, L» R» Maag Acting General Manager LRM/dm Enc.
