Photograph of Pahrump rocks for pilots, Pahrump (Nev.), 1950s

Information

Date
1950 to 1959
Description
Rocks spell out "Pahrump" on the desert floor. Handwritten inscription with photo reads: "15' x 3' white washed rocks spell PAHRUMP, a 99's project to identify locations for flyers on the Dorothy ranch in Pahrump. The 99's were guests at our house with the planes tied down on our runway. That sign helped many planes to locate themselves. Dale's "ham" shortwave [was] the only communication in the valley."
