( C O P Y ) Los Angeles - October 27, 1952 ? 1 . Mr. A. E. Stoddards (CC - Mr. W. R* Rouse — Omaha Mr. W. H. Hulsizer - Omaha Mr*. E. E. Bennett) Referring to Mr. Bennett’s letter to Mr. Rouse of October 23rd, of which you received copy, regarding Investigation of Adequacy of Water Supplied Las Vegas, Nevada Public Service Commission Case No. 1207t You will note in the last paragraph of this letter that I authorized the making of tests on our wells to determine what, if anything, could be done to temporarily augment the supply which will be available for next summer’s peak requirements. I do not anticipate that these tests will indicate the possibilities of our obtaining much more than temporary relief. However, it is within the power of the Commission to issue an order for us to drill additional wells, build additional storage, or do anything else which, in their opinion, would relieve the situation. Under these conditions, our only recourse would be either to do the work ordered or to take the matter into Court; under the latter condition, the cost would be great and the question of our obtaining a relief judgment would be very uncertain. You will remember that we were faced with a similar situation about one year ago and we were able to satisfy the Commission by putting in some additional pumps and we are hopeful of being equally successful this year. We do not anticipate that the tests above noted will cost more than $5,000.00, However, if we are called upon to Install additional pumps or place larger pumps in the present wells the cost will exceed this substantially and authority for any such expenditure will be requested in the usual manner. (Signed) Wm, Reinhardt Wm. Reinhardt
