Dear Sir:- Replying to yours of the 3rd inst.,addressed to Senator Clark of Montana, I beg to say that Mr. Clark did purchase the Stewart Ranch in Nevada, but I do not think there will be any field there for a newspaper. For further particulars you might Mr. J. Ross Clark, 325 Douglas Building, Los Angeles, Cal. Respectfully yours, A. Underwood Secretary. Salem, OR FEB 14 1903 Dear Sir: I have read a dispatch relative to the proposed new Nevada town on the S.L., L.A., Rr. and wrote Senator Clark to know if there might not be an opening there for a newspaper- or if there would be any encouragement for a man to put in a good [plant?] and run a lively paper.
