Dear Sir: Referring to Mr. Nutt's joint favor of the 19th, I hand you herewith all papers relative to loan to brakemaa F.M.Pellrath at Las Vegas, for the erection of a dwelling in a subdivision adjoining the Las Vegas townsite. When Mr. Nutt first brought this matter to ray attention I told him that I did not think we should make any loans on property other than in our own townsite, as we had a great many vacant lots ourselves that we want to sell. But it seems this man had purchased his lot and made all arrangements for his house, and the matter has gone so far that it might work a hardship on Mr. Fellrath if we refused to make the loan at this time. I recommend therefore that we grant this one request. We have some vacant houses at Las Vegas at all times, and I believe we should try and sell some, of these rather than loan money to employees for putting up new houses. It seems in this way we are rather working against ourselves in loaning money for the construction of houses when we own houses th&t are standing idle.
