Mr. H. Y. Platt, First Vice-President, Xios Angeles, California* Pear Sir, 3 Sept. Is, 1916. I "beg to acknowledge receipt of yours of this date, in regard to the expanse of country lying below Milford, in other words what is known as the "Bscalante Plains”. I quite agree with yoh that that country msg develop into quite a producing section, and with your suggestion to send a suitable man into that district to rake a thorougjh canvass of conditions, etc. I also note you mention Mr. Francis L. Sellew, who was Government engineer in charge of construction of the Laguna, Pam, shore Yuma. The only question in my mind is whether it is not too late to start in this fall. If you think it is not, if you will prepare proper letter to Mr. Mutt on the subject, I will he glad to sign it with you. •There are, no doubt, other sections tributary to the line through Utah that are well worth looking into. The Pelt a country, rhleh Mr. Calvin and I looked over about a year ago on our trip up, appeals to me very much, and in time will be a great producer of tonnage. Respectfully years, / i-U-V / * i., m i.L&L jjr.
