Los Angeles - Jan* 21, 1953 733* Mr. Wm. Reinhardt - Los Angelos Referring to our conversation relative to condition of the roof of the Clark Reservoir at Las Vegas, Nevada. Division Engineer has on his program an Item for replacing the prepared roofing, and a number of Joists and sheathing at an estimated cost of approximately $*,000 chargeable to railroad company operating expense. X made Joint Inspection of this roof with Division Engineer and Supervisor of Bridges and Buildings, and find that the roof should be renewed and repaired as proposed. There are several hundred patches on the roof now, varying in else from approximately a foot square to considerably larger areas. In addition, thereto, there are several hundred roofing nails which have "popped up* through the roofing, thus creating openings where storm water can seep through the sheathing into the water In the reservoir. This Is the original roof constructed some 23 years ago and It has served Its usefulness. Some of the Joists and sheathing on the easterly portion of the roof have rotted. X concur In the Division's recommendation that repairs be made. As stated to you, Division Engineer is requesting authorization for this expenditure through the usual channels on basis that work will be performed in February. e. D. I 22 195$ JAN 2 2 1953 L* C. C.
