Extension of porch« Co, Rooming House, Mr. J, Ross Clark, Los Angeles, Cal. Dear Sir: Las Vegas, Nev,, Jan, 9, 1919, When in Los Angeles a few days ago I had intended to personally take up the matter with you of the expenditure of carrying our porch, which is along the front of the rooming house, down the east side of the same. In the summertime we have always had a number of vacant rooms and the cause of this was on account of the excessive heat and the rooms do not cool off, so the men can sleep in them.- If we had this porch constructed we could easily put up a five foot screen along the front of the same, installing thereon enough cots for ea&h roomer, and we .would readily keep our house filled the year round, as it has been this winter, Maguire and I at one time looked over the proposition of building a screen sleeping porch on the top of the roof, but he thought at that time that the expense of doing this would be rather too great and the matter was dropped, but I would like to extend this porch on around, if you think it advisable to spend that amount of money.
