Los Angeles, July 29, 1927 js f *— Mr* F* H, Khicfcerbocioar: Regarding the water f a c i l i t i e s at Las Vegas, Seva&a, subject o f your f i l e 9215-355} ’torlc Order 7333 covers the construction o f a 12-inah oast *1 Iron water pipe lin e frees L ittle Spring to se ttlin g basin, which, when rooomended, would have made available a to ta l d irect flow of approximately 3,200 gallons per olrn to, consisting o f the flow from Artesian Well, 1,530 gallons per minute; Big- Spring, 1,010 gallons per minute and L ittle Spring, 660 gallons per minute* I understand that the Artesian Well has decreased to such an extent that only 1,175 gallons per minute are at present available, making available a tota l d ire ct flow at the present time o f 2,845 gallons per minute. Middle Spring is lower In elevation than the above-mentioned sources and, therefore, it s flow o f approximately 850 gallons per minute can not be made available without a loss in head* There la a further loss o f approximately 260 gallons per minute coming up outside o f the w e ll-easing, which probably can not be diverted Into the pipe line* economically* The 610 gallons per minute is not an actual lo s s , except daring winter months, as i t may be used on the Company's ranch for irrig a tin g purposes, but, as mentioned above, this water can not be made available fo r Railroad or City use without lowering the head on the m in pipe lin e , which is not desirable, or in sta llin g a pump to
