Sir: Your favor of 3d. instant is received relative to transcript of field-notes, Tp. 20 S., R. 61 E., M.D.B. & M. On the 6th. it*- stant I mailed you a tracing of the Southwestern portion of *h* township showing the Vegas Greek with a new transcript of notes of line between Sections 26 and 27, which I hope satisfactorily ex­plains what is called for by the field-notes. The actual conditions on the ground, if found different from those described in the notes, can not be remedied. The Circular of March 14, 1901 from the Gen­eral Land Office prescribes the manner in which lost or obliterated corners of public surveys may be restored to their original position, but this office has no jurisdiction over the matter after the of­ficial plat of an approved survey has been filed in the local Land office by direction of the Honorable Commissioner of the General Land office at Washington, D.C. In regard to the charges for transcript the folios were care­fully checked and charged for to the ten words nearest to, and less than, the actual count. To avoid any dispute over the matter I remit the entire charge, and you can present the bill to your clients with my compliments.
