Los Angeles, > January 3rd, 194$ Hr* Frank Strongs Attached are three copies of J.M. Montgomery A Go. Jno. letters to ms dated December 2 1 st and 22nd, 19^, and attachments thereto furnishing an approximate preliminary estimate of cost of a water supply system to deliver 26 m.g.p.d. (1 8 ,0 0 0 0 *P.M.) from Lake Head to Lae Vegas and other locations within the area of the reeently created Water District. Also attached are three prints which I received from you today on which we have shown a suggested location of the transmission mains, pumping stations, reservoir* ete. As you know, this estimate has been prepared without field survey and is based on the best information and data available. The estimated coat of the construction is #9 ,3^ , 0 0 0 .0 0 *r*e lasthiovwen otnhe rtehteo :estimate. Following are some explanatory comments Mr* Coghlan, President of J.M. Montgomery A Go. ino. states that there is spaoe on the Island alongside the Basle Magnesium intake structure, housing, intake pumps, etc. for the construction of similar facilities for the Las Vegas project, and he states that it is his opinion that the U.S. Government and State of Nevada will permit the construction of the proposed intake facilities adjacent to the B.M.Z. structures which, as you know, wore Installed at the most advantageous location on the lake. 2 . Booster station will be located near the B.M.Z. Booster Station, about 2 miles from the intake. Estimate includes a 1 -1 / 2 million gallon covered, regulating reservoir at this station. The booster station will pump water to a location near southeast portion of Las Vegas city limits where a water treatment plant of 26 M.Ct.D. capacity and a 30 M.G. terminal reservoir is proposed. Service pumps to 0 1 ty distribution system will pimp treated water westerly along Charleston Boulevard to our reservoir adjacent to this boulevard where treated water will be blended with raw water from our wells and springs and thenoe into City mains. 3 . All items of expense required for a completed project have been included as shown on estimate. After field survey has been made and eareful design of the entire water system has been completed, a eloser estimate oan be prepared. K. L. Adamson
