Mi*. A. C. Ritter: Las Vegas - February 24, 1949 i 2-3 Clarence I Wa&aworth, who operates the Las Vegas transfer here, makes application to purchase a site he Is now occupying on South Main Street under Lease Audit Bo, A-5I330. Be advises he signed up an agreement last week with the Aeae people to receive car-load shipments at L&s Vegas add make this a distributing point by trucks In the territory not served by rail between fomopah and Kingman. He is unable to Ultimate how many carloads of tragic this will produce* Be states also that he has an arrangement with Safeway Stores under which he will receive their beer and vine shipments* And that if sufficient storage space can be provided the Palmolive Company will ship in soap In carload lots* to accomodate these shipments, he proposes to build a 50* x 1001 concrete block, one-story warehouse and would like an additional 25 feet so that his trucks can unload from the side door of the proposed warehouse* Wadsworth now has 35 feet under lease and there is a 14 ft alleyway on the north between his lease and that of Von TobelJ however, my file Indicates this 14 ft strip is under lease to Vos Tobel where he has constructed a small loading r&mp, The only available space we could accomodate Wadsworth with would be on the south side of his lease on the old Clawson site, which has been cleaned off and fenced by Clark County Mercantile Company* This Is not a good time to build a large warehouse in Las Vegas because of the present prohibitive oosta? nor do 1 see how the sale of this site would influence rail traffic. However, I shall appreciate your reaction to his request so 1 can advise Mr, Wadsworth* A, M* Folger
