Las Vegas - March 25, 1948 W 18-4-7 Mr. Frank Strong: Fir© protaction Engineer J. 0. Roberta, after Inspection of LVykW 0o. property at Las Vegas February 2?th 4? 28th, suggested that, "Consideration should be given to replacing the housing over the hot water heating plant located at the rear of roosting house*. Its alas is 13*10® x 28*6" and 8 Ft in height. There is considerable merit to the suggestion. In case of fire in the boiler room, there is only 18- inches space between the cover of the housing and the wooden fire escape leading down from second floor of rooming house. The boiler room pit is about 5 Ft deep, with concrete walls up to ground level, and a concrete floor on which our new General Electric oil burning boilers are located, but the sides and top are of wood, and have been in place for a good many years. Aside from the fire hasard, this wooden cap on the boiler room presents a disreputable appearance, not at all in keeping with the rest of the property. A new two-story apartment house is now under construction across the alley from our rooming house and 1 feel that we should dress up our premises to conform. We can replace the old wooden wails and roof on boiler room with new 8* concrete block walls, steel roof joists with sheet-rook sheathing, composition room, steel sash and new door for |2190, including painting. This also Includes removal of old walls and roof. Will appreciate an opportunity to look it over with you on your next trip. A. M. Folger
