79. Table 19. The estimated cost of these facilities is given in Table 20 as $5,846,000. It will be noted that the capacity of the 20-inch line between BMI and the Junction Storage can discharge to the junction reservoir at the rate of 13.5 MOD rather than the 8.0 MG-D available from BMI. Although an 18-lnch line would be adequate to carry 8.0 MOD through this connection, pumping back to BMI would require a pumping head of 770 feet, thus requiring heavier pipe, and the 18-inch line would not lend itself to delivery of water between BMI and Las Vegas with a single pumping station prior to the completion of the Lake Mead supply line. The 20-inch main, was, therefore, selected for this connection. 9T5 Summary of Water Supply Projects - Basically three methods are considered for supplementing the water supply to the Las Vegas Valley. These methods are as follows: (1) Provide a water supply line direct from Lake Mead to the Las Vegas urban area. The cost of this project is estimated at $5,425,000. (2) Provide a water supply line from BMI to Las Vegas to alleviate the current seasonal water . shortage and supplement this construction with' a supply line from Lake Mead at a later date. The costs of these projects is estimated at $6,964,000. (3) Provide a supply line to the urban area with one branch taking water from BMI (to be constructed immediately) and a second branch to Lake Mead (to be constructed at a later date). The cost of this work is estimated at $6,555,000.
