In the survey of the Las Vegas w a t e r situation m a d e b y Geolo g i s t Greene u n d e r Hr* R e i n h a r d t ’s direction, it d e v e l o p e d that the dee p e r sands f r o m w h i c h we d r a w o u r m a j o r p r o d u c t i o n have cons i d e r a b l y greater pressure t h a n obtains in- the shallower sands* It follows, then, that water f r o m the lower Sands that m a y p e r c o l a t e toward the surface along the outside of the pipe m a y b e e x p e c t e d to be absorbed into the lower-pressure u p p e r sands and thus lost to o u r production. To g u a r d against this it is p r o p o s e d to set a string of casing Just above the deep producing h o r i z o n (at 5 7 6 feet p l u s o r minus) and cement this string a l l the w a y to the surface; than set a screened liner into the producing h o r i z o n a n d gravel-p a c k its in what we thinly will b e a successful eff o r t to avoid s the entrance of s e n d and subsequent oeving* The drilling of a w e l l and placing it in p r o d uction in i w a t e r s a n d is a simple matter, b u t the successful cementing o f a string of casing and the successful i n t r o duction of g r a v e l-packing requires n o t o n l y ths p r o p e r equipment but e x p e r i e n c e • w > m a.
