Lake Mead water will be brought into Las Vegas val­ley sometime in 1951 if pres­ent plans of the water district board are realized, it was re­ported today by members o f1 the district water board fol­lowing a meeting held over the week end. | While all possible speed has been made in the past, it was the consensus of the members, of the board that the pace should be ac­celerated and plans are being laid now to go forward with the project with the 1951 deadline in yiew. m The need for speed was pointed j pp during the recent hot spell'in f,as Vegas, when the facilities of the Las Vegas Land and Water Company were unable to meet the "tremendous demand. This, the board pointed out, showed the ne­cessity • of immediate action and the program was swung into high gear. - A three-point plan was out­lined by the board at its meeting gnd included: 1— Determination of a policy for the preliminary financing of the district. 2— Outline of a definite policy with the Colorado river commis­sion regarding the water avail­able and the cost to the district. ; 3—Immediate appraisal of the Las Vegas Land and Water com­pany’s distribution system, which will become an integral part of the system which will be set up by the district.
