Charles Rozaire Memoir/Autobiography: DIGGING LIFE Topic: The Nevada State Museum Beginnings: February 11, 1961 I had gone to Bishop,, California , meeting with members of the Arhaeological Survey Associatio of Southern California for an Owens Valley "Point Typology " meeting (a separate involved story) during the week end* I was at a restaurant with member friends to have dinner when Richard Shutler, Jr. ("Dick") showed up "out of the blue" - a surprising (and puzzling) to me encounter, L knew of him, but not much more. He then made a point of viviting with me, verifying my background at the Southwest Museum -and Tule Springs. He related some things about himself, and huge plans for a major project at Tue Springs, wanting to explore for whatever might be there pertaining to Early Man. To me it weeraed there would be great potential and a major effort to investigate would be terrrific, I met Dick Shutler againg at the Meeting of Western Point Typology Conference hekd at Idaho State College in Pocatello, Idaho , occurring March 15-17, 1962* I was take there by H.C. Smith in his small twin engine airplane, But returned by car by car # with Dick Shutler and ("Marty) Martin Baumhoff Owen’s Valley Point Typology Workshop in Bishop High School A.S.A.S.C. Members Mr. and Mrs, Rolle(i)n and Grace Enfield Schhol teachers Arranged to be able to use the school
