Wrenches Los Angeles, March 7> 19^7 5-SD-4990-W-A Mr. R. L. Adamson: Your letter of February 26th, File 733^# regarding fire hydrant wrenches. I quote letter from the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company who furnished the original wrenches which you advised are not of the correct size: "We are most agreeable to your returning these fire hydrant wrenches to us. However, since they do not fit, it has raised a question in our mind if the hydrant nuts are the proper size. "On our order and our invoice it shows that we shipped you National Standard nut size, which is 1&" from the point to the flat and also that the wrenches were li". "It is quite probable that the wrong size wrench was shipped to you but since it is so important, we thought it might be worth checking for your own protection. "We oan either replace these wrenches with one that is suitable provided the hydrant nut size is correct, or can issue you credit whichever you wish." If you oan give me the nut size dimensions I believe they can replace with those which will serve your requirements. You will note from my letter that we requested authority to return the original shipment for credit. In this respebt, however, I will upon receipt of a reply give you the exaot disposition.
