35. The foregoing tabulation shows that the Las Vegas urban area used an estimated 20.0 MOD of water for a population of 31,300 persons. The per capita water consumption is thus 640 gallons per day. The per capita water consumption in the entire valley (exclusive of the industrial demand of the Basic Magnesium Plant) is 790 gallons per day. The records of the Las Vegas Land and Water Company show that the months of least water consumption are generally December, January and February. During these months the temperatures are relatively low and there is generally some rainfall. Water requirements for lawn and garden watering and for cooling should be negligible. An index of the use of water for domestic purposes may be the water consumption during the minimum months. The annual average consumption and the maximum and minimum months for the years 1932 to 1948 are shown in Table 2. This table shows that the minimum month averages approximately 51 per cent of the average annual consumption.
