T msmmn: mmsiMM Ordinance Ho* ilf m emergency ordinance to prohibit the vast* of watsrt M i n * lag waste ef water* Regulating the use thereof; and providing penalties for the violation of this ordinance; repealing all ordinances is eonfllet therewith* ® » Board of Cammlssioinevs of toe City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows* HSKEUMB* the City of Lae Vegas is threatened with a water shortage on account of the diminishing simply fleeing from the artesian wells in said City and m account of the present waste thereof hy the inhabitants of said City; end VHEREAS, the capacity of the sewer system of toe City is over, i n taxed hy reason of water easting into the sewers without feeing put pjto a fell beneficial nee; and WHERSAB* the Board of City CoamisslGnere dee® it expedient and ?necessary for the protection of health* comfort, safety* Ilfs* wel» vryfare property of the inhabitant* or said City to regulate fhi ess of water therein and to prevent the waste thereof* HOW# I W ® s ^ Section 1» Waste of water In toe City of Lae Vegas is hereby prohihited and declared tailawful* Section 2* Any one of the following ante shall sons tituts vS'W&ste of water* as the t e n is used In this ordinance* (a) Permitting a hydrant* tap* cook or valve connected with any water system t n s i n a g to any public utility* to leak onto the ground or into any sink* howl* toilet or tub eonneoted with a sewer or oeespool* or permitting water to drain from a person1 s premise* into any sweet* alley or road* after the person paneltting ths ease has h e m notified to remedy such leak or to prevent stash drain* ing by any public offieer* or an agent of any public utility* as hereinafter defined; \\7/ (h) Using water fro® any water system belonging to any pahli© '^'utility for the purpose of cooling any refrigerator* refrigerating machine* lee plant* ioe machine* coder* cooling plant* cooling system* air conditioning machine or apparatus* engine or motor* where said water* after being so used* is permitted to flew into a sewer or cesspool or onto the ground* provided* however* that the use of water for suoh cooling purposes is not prohibited where* after being so used* it is collected* re-cooled and reused* and is not permitted to flew into & sewer* oeespool* or onto ths ground; (e) Permitting water from any water system belonging to any public utility to flow from any hose* top* valve* iydrant, pipe or ©ook directly into any sewer or cesspool for thirty minutes or longer without first putting suoh water to a beneficial use* and each thirty minutes such water is permitted to so flow shall eonstitote a separate offense*
