Charles F. De Arm&nd, Chief Engineer of the Colo r a d o River Commission, c a l l e d at the office and discussed this same subject, t h a t they p r o p o s e to do, in c o o p e r a t i o n w i t h the Federal Government who will b e a r half the expense, is to make a thorough survey of the Las Vegas Valley, d e t e rmine the nu m b e r and location of all wells, w h e t h e r such w e l l s are c a s e d and whether or not they a r e capped w h e n the w a t e r is not being put to a b e n eficial us®. There is n o one m o r e d e e p l y interested in this than ourselves, as it has b e e n m y personal o b s e r v a t i o n in a number of instances that there is a tendency on the part of owners of flowing wells to permit their water to run to waste rather than to shut it off w h e n not a c t u a l l y needed. This u n warra n t e d and use l e s s w a s t e of water drains from the same un d e r g r o u n d channel that is o u r source of supply, and I am c o n v i n c e d that this survey will be of a v e r y g r e a t ben e f i t to u s in putting a stop to this waste.
