Dear Sir: I am in receipt of your letter of August 31st enclosing expense voucher for expenditures made«by you during the month of July, 1903, which are, as far as I can see all on account of a trip you made to Salt Lake City. Previous to this trip I received a letter from you relative to same and replied to it saying* that you were without a cook and I did not consistently see how you could he away from the ranch, therefore, advised that you were to sfcay on the ranch until I heard from Mr.Clark* I cannot see wherein it was necessary for you to make this trip to Salt Lake City and, therefore, cannot see any reason why we should stand the expense of same* On this account it will he impossible for me to pass this voucher for payment, and I rejturn same herewith.
