Dear Sir I have had the pleasure today of attempting to interest some parties in a colonization scheme in Utah. I have been in conference with Mr. A. F. Pitchugin, who represents a Russian Colonization Company, and Mr. P. W. Me* Mullen, who is associated with him, and have secured interviews for them with a number of representatives of the various projects in this State. We had an interview with Mr. W. G. Farrell, Secretary of the Commercial Club, who very courteously spoke of the possibilities along our line of railroad and urged the colonization of the of any .tracts along this line. Mr. Pitchugin represents that he has one hundred and forty families (Russians) who have some means, and who are anxious to secure a worthy project on which they can settle. I introduced these gentlemen to Mr. Geo. A. Snow, who has taken up the matter with them in more detail. I have also secured an audience for them with Mr. Holbrook of the Sevier River Land & Water Company, and also with the New Castle Companies. Mr. Pitchugin is very much interested, and intends to make a thorough investigation,and it is to be hoped that sufficient interest can be aroused to insure their location here.
