Las Vegas - O ctober 15, 1951 9 23-3-3 Mr. E . C . Renwick: co - Mr. William Reinhardt Mr* E. £. Bennett Referring to our conversation October 9 concerning purchase of land, in connection with our water operations at Las Vegas the subject of your letter of October 4 to Ms Bennetts 1 have reviewed Mr. Bracken18 files on this subject and find the following infornotion concerning the - various land purchases : Hr. Bracken an October 29, 1939 recommended to Mr. Jeffers 3Confirming my telegram October 28th to Mr. Strong, copy to Mr* Ashby, the most important parcel we should acquire is the 40 acres shown as NEfSEj Sec 30 shown on Map 6 attaehed to file and owned by M. Cutting, This is immediately adjaoent to the location where we propose to drill the new well marked Mo* 4 and is unquestlon— In the proven water ledge. The acquisition of m i s acreage was also recommended by Mr , Mel son * Taylor in his report August 4, 1937, and we have been carrying on indirect negotiations with the owner but thus far have been unable to acquire it at a price of $20 per acre*3 "The other 180 acres owned by w. H. Pike and others. Is probably Also in the water ledge but is considerably lower than our present sources of supply, and even though water were developed in that location It would probably be necessary to lift it with a pump in order to get it into the settling basin. This land could probably be purchased for the same price we paid for the Elnman acreage, that is #20 per acre, and will be of Malue in the future as protection to our water-bearing land, suggested by Mr. Reinhardt and Mr. Greene?"
