LOS VEGAS RANCH 60-A LOS VEGAS, NEV. 8 Oct. 1903 Mr. J. Ross Clark, V.P. Los Angeles, Calif. Dear Sir! Replying to your 29 Sept 03. It is absolutely impossible for us to get freight hauled here from Caliente for less then 2 cents per pound and then we almost have to beg these Mormon ranchers to use the freighting. I certainly engage all these men to go before they start after our freight. I did get one had at 1 1/2 cents but they refused to go again and could get no others at that. If you will refer to my previous correspondence on this matter and recall our subsequent conversation you will see just how thing starts. I do not consider the charge exorbitant when you consider the [?] and distance. Also the price of feed in this country and distance between water. Then most of this stuff is for the store and the cost to pay the freight. Yours truly JKW Bracken
