Mr. Arthur Maguire; Chief Mngr., L. A. & 8. L. H. R., Los A ngeles, Calif. Dear Sir 5- Acknowledging receipt of your letter under date of October 15, file ho. 599, which refers to Mr. Kellogg's letter to you under date of Oct. 9 in reference to cheap furnished houses for employes:- 1 am glad that Mr. Kellogg's letter oarae at the time it did for I have been trying for the past week or ten days to figure out how we could purchase suitable furniture for the Company houses, and X am sure it could not be don# so that the houses could be rented for less than $30.00 to $33.00 per month, and as this is not complying with Mr. Kellogg's wishes, X am today writing Mr. Clark advising that w# postponed the furnishing of the Company hpuees for the present. Copy of that letter is nerewith attached. X note what Mr. Kellogg says in reference to division of the Company houses, and it would"be absolutely impossible for us to divide these houses up into two apartments as they are now constructed. However i believe the 5 room houses could be divided if we would build on another kitchen, and in that case we would make a three room apartment which would rent possibly for $15.00 to $18.00. $hat Las Vegas, October 18, 1919*
