BALCH, ASSISTANT TO GENERAL MANAGER, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. ...Wells at Las Vegas... At Balt Lake City, September 16,1913. Mr. J. Ross Clark, Second Vice President, Los Angeles, Cal. Dear Sir:- I talked with Mr.- Bancroft about the new artesian well at Las Vegas, and he agrees with us that we would not be warranted in purchasing any additional land in the vicinity of our springs in order to prevent people from drilling wells in that vicinity, as we can get wells on the ground we now own if this developing of artesian wells interferes with the flow from the springs, which I do not think likely. I also talked with Walter Bracken about it, on my way east, and he has about reached the conclusion that it would be a waste of money for us to buy any more land in the vicinity of the springs. Yours truly, - ftlt. HCN-VAC.
